Snapshot: Cheese Caves — Giant Slime & Frog Spawns

Early snapshot notes on Cheese Caves terrain generation and what to test.

Snapshot: Cheese Caves

The newest snapshot introduces cheese caves — enormous, pillar-dotted caverns that generate below Y = 0 in deepslate regions.

Snapshot highlights

  • Cheese cave generation: irregular domed caverns with frequent 2-block cheese-holes and stalagmite-stalactite pairs.
  • Slime spawn bonus: slime chunks inside cheese caves spawn up to 2× faster; swamp slimes also spawn on cheese-floor blocks.
  • Frog variant: a new pale frog spawns on the cavern floor and eats slimes for froglight.
  • Performance: cavern rendering is much cheaper than 1.21 dripstone caves — expect better FPS.

Test in your world

Grab the snapshot, load a fresh seed, and use the Seed Map’s new Cheese Caves overlay (coming in the next release) to locate the biggest caverns.
